Pain Relief

Dr. Lin's Chinese Herbal Medicines and acupuncture are beneficial for treating all joint pain, sports or injury pain, muscle, as well as, nerve pain.

Whether it bothers you to wash dishes because of your arthritic hands, hit a backhand because of your tennis elbow, or use a computer because of carpal tunnel syndrome, acupuncture has proven itself wonderful for alleviating the unnecessary limitation of pain. In 1998, acupuncture was recognized by the Federal Agency, the National Institute of Health (NIH), as a premier form for treatment and care of back pain.

Endorsed by the World Health Organization (WHO), acupuncture can reduce or eliminate the following pain conditions:

  • Back & Neck Pain
  • Herniated Disk Pain
  • Sciatica
  • Arthritis
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI)
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Elbow Pain
  • Shoulder Pain
  • Knee pain
  • Tendonitis
  • Tension or Migraine Headache
  • ”Morning Get-Up” Headache
  • Afternoon Headache
  • Back Pain which is contributing to a low sex-drive
  • Achilles Tendon
  • Menstrual Cramps
  • Dental Pain

A 1998 study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine showed that medical doctors refer their patients to acupuncturists more than any other “alternative” care provider. The same study also revealed that 51% of medical doctors believe acupuncture to be efficacious and of value.

A pair of new studies, one conducted at the University of Heidelberg in Germany, the other at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, have demonstrated objective evidence that acupuncture works as a form of pain relief.

Some medical researchers are optimistic that acupuncture could eventually be used to reduce the dosage needed for certain pain medications and non-steroidal and anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), some of which carry less than desirable side-effects.

”It is important for Western medicine to recognize that these acupoints really mean something in regard to pain relief,” Dr Lee, the main author of the acupuncture study at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, concluded. “So many people with pain, whether from cancer, headache or a chronic, unexplained condition, rely on medications such as morphine, which can become addicting. Acupuncture has no side effects, and other studies have shown the pain relief it provides can last for months.”
